A 19-year-old man pushing a scooter was run over and killed by a bus in Bergamo on Sunday, part of a spate of fatal e-scooter accidents in Italy.
The accident happened at 8.40 am in Piazzale Marconi, the crossroads of the bus, railway and tram stations.
The young Italo-Moroccan man was on his scooter, which he was pushing on foot at the time, and was run over by the bus, which - according to reconstructions - he was trying to reach to get on it with his friends.
The bus driver reported did not see the man and dragged him and the scooter a few metres.
The 19-year-old lived with his family in Brembate.
According to figures released later Sunday, fatal e-scooteraccidents are growing steadily in Italy.
E-scooter victims rose 77.8% in 2022 while pedestrian victims of e-scooter crashes were up 53.8% and cyclist fatalities down6.8%, according to Italian Automobile Cub report on roadaccidents with stats agency Istat.
