The Siko ends on Sunday, February 18th.

At the weekend there were several demos in Munich with thousands of participants.

Munich - On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, thousands took to the streets at the weekend to protest for global peace and against grievances in individual regions.

A rally calling for peace in Russia-attacked Ukraine took place on Saturday afternoon, February 17, at Odeonsplatz.

According to police reports, up to 3,000 people gathered there.

Among them were the FDP security politician Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann and the Green politician Anton Hofreiter.

The crowd, many of them waving yellow and blue Ukrainian flags, demanded, among other things, greater Western support for the Ukrainian army.

A protest march by the peace movement with over 2,500 participants also took place on Saturday.

This protest was aimed directly at the Munich Security Conference.

Many demonstrators described NATO as a “warmonger”.

Demos in downtown Munich – protests against right-wing extremism again across Bavaria

On Saturday there was also a demonstration with participants who, according to the police, were more likely to be assigned to the politically right-wing, pro-Russian camp.

This marched through the streets with almost 2,000 participants.

Under the motto “Make Peace!”, the march was registered by an initiative that is partly attributed to the lateral thinker movement.

Protests against human rights abuses in Bangladesh and Ethiopia also took place.
