First there was an operation because of an aggressive shoplifter.

But then officers from the Erding inspection discovered further evidence of crimes on the 24-year-old and his accomplice (41).

Erding

– Two men stole goods worth almost 240 euros from a supermarket in Erding on Friday.

The two construction workers - 24 and 41 years old - who live abroad had packed everything in their bags and wanted to go to the market without paying - and were stopped by the store detective.

He held the younger of the two perpetrators.

But he became aggressive, so the police were asked for help around 5:15 p.m.

The patrol officers from Erding Inspectorate caught the second thief after a short sprint.

Both suspects smelled of alcohol.

Since they had traveled together in a car, police work now focused on the perpetrators' ability to drive.

The 24-year-old's breath alcohol test showed a blood alcohol level of 1.46 per mille, and he could not produce a driver's license.

The older thief only had a relatively low alcohol level of 0.14 per mille, but showed clear signs of other drug use.

Since it was not clear at the time who was driving, the vehicle keys were secured as a preventative measure.

This issue continues to be investigated.

When the car was searched for additional stolen goods, 17 fuel cards from a well-known oil company were found, as well as around two grams of amphetamine that belonged to the 41-year-old.

It still needs to be clarified whether the fuel cards were also stolen.

The two accused were taken to the Erding police station for final processing.

The Landshut public prosecutor's office will decide on the type and amount of punishment for shoplifting, drug possession and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
