The story of the "time traveler" who arrived from 1932 to 2050/@pov.azura

We've all dreamed of owning our own time machine.

We all have the fantasy of traveling back in time to see the dinosaurs or thousands of years into the future to ride a flying car.

But there is one person who claims to have already achieved this.

Hardly a day goes by without us hearing about someone claiming to travel back in time and come back from the future.

However, most of their stories are easily debunked and none have a story as extraordinary as that of Sergey Ponomarenko.

He was found wandering the streets of Kyiv, Ukraine in April 2006 wearing old clothes and carrying a very old camera that looked brand new.

If that's not bizarre enough, Sergei carried around a very reliable looking ID card (except that it was issued in the 1950s) identifying him as a Soviet citizen.

According to the claims, the film he had in his camera and carefully studied shows pictures of Kiev from 1950. Ponomarenko claimed he was born in 1932 and lived in 1950 shortly before he was found by the police in 2006.

After they were opened and examined, it was found that the photos in the camera were indeed taken during the period he claimed and he was also photographed there with an unidentified girl and next to him an object that looked like a UFO.

The mystery got weirder when the authorities started investigating and discovered that a man with the same name had been missing since 1958. Confused by this story, they tracked down the missing man's then-girlfriend, who was already in her 70s at the time - and alarmingly, she was identified As a girl from the picture found on his camera.

She claimed her boyfriend disappeared for two years before returning later and disappearing again in the 1970s.

She also held a photo of him as an older man, allegedly taken in 2050, with seemingly "futuristic" Kiev in the background and looking new with records of skyscrapers.

Naturally, a psychologist was called in to investigate Ponomarenko - and couldn't find holes in his story.

Then - he disappeared from custody in the middle of the night.

"Time traveler" met himself in the future and presents the video with the proofs

So what's the truth behind the most compelling time traveler story ever?

But still there are one or two holes in Ponomarenko's story - chief among them - there is no proof that any of this even happened.

Ponomarenko himself disappeared a few days after the strange incident, and while there are dozens of photos of the so-called "time traveler" and there are copies of the photos the police found on his camera's film, their source cannot be found.

The only photos offered as evidence of the strange event all come from a reconstruction made for a Ukrainian documentary series called "Aliens" that aired in 2012.

YouTuber Joe Scott delved further into the case and the mystery, and found that Ponomarenko's photo allegedly taken in 2050 Kiev was Photoshopped and apparently even includes the New York skyline and the Empire State Building can be seen.

After an in-depth search, no sign of the existence of police documents on the investigation was found, the person identified as Ponomarenko's girlfriend cannot be located, and there is no record of the psychologist who interviewed him, or the photography expert called to verify his photos by the police.

Given the state of Ukraine today, it is hard to believe that anyone will ever be able to find the original police records from 2006, so the mystery will likely never be solved.
