The images of his fall during the fire of April 15, 2019 went around the world.
And made people fear the worst, that the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral would never recover.
But almost five years later, the spire of Viollet-le-Duc peaks again at 96 m high and can be seen in the sky of the capital.
The scaffolding which protected it at the top was removed this week and now reveals the golden rooster, the 20 m high needle and a few dozen ornaments cast in lead out of the several hundred which decorate it.
