Three cannon shots followed by three fervent “Long live the emperor” rang out Saturday morning at the Belvédère of Montereau-Fault-Yonne (Seine-et-Marne), in the woods of the André-Malraux high school which overlooks the confluence of the Seine and of Yonne.
To the delight of admirers of Napoleon I and history buffs.
All weekend, several hundred reenactors from all over France but also from Belgium and Italy bring the Battle of Montereau (February 18, 1814) to life, on the occasion of its 210th anniversary.
This was Napoleon I's last victory during the French campaign.
The previous Napoleonic Days in the city date back to 2021, on the occasion of the bicentenary of the Emperor's death.
