A traffic hooligan (63) coerced, insulted and endangered other drivers on the motorway on Saturday, apparently annoyed by the slow progress.

When highway patrol officers confronted him, he became so aggressive that the police had to handcuff him.

Holzkirchen

- A 63-year-old man from the Göppingen district reacted upset and unreasonable after a whole series of crimes with which he endangered other drivers on Saturday (February 17th) between Irschenberg and the Munich-South motorway junction.

Police Chief Inspector Martin Weidringer from the Holzkirchen Motorway Police Station (APS) reports that the man, who was on his way home, finally completely lost his composure and aggressively jumped out of his Audi during the check.

As the police report, traffic in the direction of Munich was at a standstill early on Saturday afternoon and was only moving at 100 km/h.

Several drivers reported to the police around 1:20 p.m. how the 63-year-old's Audi A 4 from Irschenberg overtook vehicles on the right several times in a risky manner and also used the hard shoulder.

He is said to have forced other road users to brake suddenly, which, according to Weidringer, almost led to accidents.

Escape from patrol

The Audi driver is said to have often insulted other drivers by showing the middle finger.

Apparently the Audi even used an emergency lane when jumping into a gap and drove behind an emergency vehicle.

An APS patrol gave chase.

When the 63-year-old noticed this, he tried to outrun the patrol in a traffic jam.

“That failed,” stated Weidringer.

During the check at the Munich-South motorway junction, the man jumped out of the car “gesticulating wildly and in an aggressive posture”.

According to Weidringer, since there was a risk that he would run uncontrollably onto the road and attack the officers, he was briefly handcuffed.

After consulting with the public prosecutor, the man had to hand over his driver's license.

He faces criminal charges for endangering road traffic, insulting and resisting officials.

“Some drivers do not realize that their driving license can be revoked immediately and often for a very long time after such actions,” explains Weidringer.

Twelve speed offenders

The APS also had to fish speed offenders out of traffic during the carnival holidays.

Twelve reports were filed for excessive speeding and tailgating, and three drivers lost their driving licenses.

The BMW driver (21) from Munich between Weyarn and Hofolding committed the most serious violations.

He flashed his headlights as a form of coercion and even flashed a civilian APS video patrol out of the way.

The patrol only caught the speeder after several kilometers.

“The Munich resident showed no insight whatsoever.”

says the police.

In addition to a four-figure fine and a three-month driving ban, he will receive a summons to attend traffic classes.

A Dutchman (27) was in a hurry to go on a skiing holiday in his Mercedes.

At Weyarn he was 40 km/h faster than permitted and was only allowed to continue driving after he had paid a security deposit of over 300 euros.

In the direction of Munich, the police stopped a VW bus driver (50) from Hesse.

He was also far too fast, flashed his headlights to give himself a clear path and drove up close.

He can expect a fine of 300 euros, two points in the traffic offenders' file and a two-month driving ban.
