Two police officers and a firefighter died in Burnsville, Minnesota, responding to “a call about a family in danger” on Sunday morning, Governor Tim Walz said.
“We must never take for granted the bravery and sacrifices that our police officers and first responders make every day,” Walz said on his X account. “My heart goes out to their families today and the entire State of Minnesota is with Burnsville.”
Other agents were apparently injured, the state president said, but no details were provided about their condition.

The Burnsville Police Department confirmed to NBC News that there was an “active scene.”
Affiliate network KARE reported that police have been gathering in the Burnsville neighborhood since early morning.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said on social media that it was responding to a scene in Burnsville “where there have been reports of officers involved in a domestic shooting.”
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar posted on X that she had been informed that three officers had been shot in Burnsville.
“I was informed by police this morning that three officers have been shot in Burnsville,” Klobuchar wrote.
“They were doing their job.
They were protecting our community.
“John and I are praying for them and their families and the Burnsville police this morning.”
Several police departments posted on X asking the public: “Please keep the Burnsville Police Department in your prayers this morning.”
Jim Nash, a representative from Minnesota, also posted on social media about the report.
“My heart is heavy for the families of these officers, the Burnsville community, and for our country because this headline is not unique,” Nash wrote.
Incorporated in 1964, Burnsville is a suburb located south of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
According to the city's website, it is the ninth largest suburb in the metropolitan area, with more than 64,000 residents.
