In an interview with journalist Pavel Zaroubine and broadcast on Sunday February 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin assured that
“what is happening”
in Ukraine is a
“question of life and death”
for Russia while the West would not seek than to
“improve (its) tactical position”.
In the extract from the interview published on social networks, the head of the Kremlin considered that it was
“important”
for Russians and foreigners alike
“to understand our state of mind, to understand to what extent what is happening happening around Ukraine is sensitive and important for our country
.
The Russian president also discussed his recent interview with American host Tucker Carlson, very popular among conservatives.
This interview, the first granted by Vladimir Putin to a Western media since the start of the Russian offensive in Ukraine in February 2022, was highly scrutinized.
It has been viewed more than 200 million times on X (formerly Twitter).
In this message lasting more than two hours to the Americans and Europeans, Putin notably assured that a defeat for Russia in Ukraine was
“impossible”
while saying he was ready for a
“dialogue”
with the West.
On Saturday, the Russian president congratulated his army for the “
total
” capture of the town of Avdiivka, located in the Donetsk region.
