Passengers will once again have to prepare for numerous Lufthansa flight cancellations this week.

This time the ground staff should go on strike again.

Berlin - The Verdi union has called on Lufthansa ground workers to go on another warning strike on Tuesday.

The strike at the Lufthansa locations in Frankfurt/Main, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Cologne-Bonn and Stuttgart will begin on Tuesday at 4:00 a.m. and end on Wednesday at 7:10 a.m., Verdi announced in Berlin on Sunday.

Since all ground workers from maintenance to passenger and aircraft handling are called on a warning strike, there will likely be major flight cancellations and delays, according to Verdi.

According to the information, different times apply for areas not close to passengers, such as freight or technology.

According to the union, the background is the group-wide collective wage negotiations for the approximately 25,000 employees on the ground - including at Deutsche Lufthansa, Lufthansa Technik, Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services, Lufthansa Engineering and Operational Services and other group companies.

No agreement was reached in the third round of negotiations on February 12, 2024 either.

The employers' offer from the previous round of negotiations was rejected by the vast majority of employees.

Criticism is therefore given to the extended zero months in the new offer from the previous eight to eleven zero months, as well as the significantly lower increases for ground workers compared to other professional groups in the group, the length of the term and completely unanswered issues.

The group is also not yet prepared to give employees back part of their lost income from the corona pandemic in times of record profits.
