Discovered by the general public on Yann Barthès' talk show,
Azzeddine Ahmed-Chaouch
decided to move towards other horizons.
Since February 13, he has taken on a whole new hat, that of political columnist.
He appears once a week, on Tuesdays, in the show
“Sens public”
presented by Thomas Hugues at 7 p.m. on Public Sénate.
And he himself was surprised that he was given this role.
“To be frank, I was the first to be surprised
,” he revealed on the set of “Buzz TV” this Monday, February 19.

“I spent seven years at “Quotidien” where I mainly talked about politics in my subjects. I had been there since first year. I was kind of the last of the group of reporters and I wanted to do a few other things
,” he continues
.
And although the journalist directed the documentary “The Arab in the Post”, produced by Bangumi (the production company of “Quotiden”, Editor's note) or wrote the book on the trial of the November 13 attacks entitled Dossier
V13
in collaboration with the legal designer Valentin Pasquier, he wanted to escape from current affairs.
“When I was asked to be a political editorialist at Public Senate, I found it funny.
You don't immediately see me in this position because you might imagine a gentleman with white hair and a pipe [laughs] so there was a challenge to take up
,” explains Azzeddine Ahmed-Chaouch.

“Those were my best years”
“I admit that Public Senate interests me. I like this channel, especially in the very clash, very tough, hard news, very BFMTV versus CNews atmosphere. When I was asked to enlighten viewers in this show with Thomas Hugues, who is a great journalist, I said to myself
“let's give it a try”
.
So now I wear jackets
,” jokes the 42-year-old.
It is therefore a definitive farewell to the group of TMC columnists.
“
‘Daily’
is over.
I served a seven-year term and two elections, so it's not bad
, he decides before ironically:
the accumulation of mandates is fine, even for journalists
.
However, Azzeddine Ahmed-Chaouch mainly has good memories.
“They taught me everything
,” he jokes before continuing more seriously.
“Those were my best journalistic years.
I get a little emotional talking about it because with Yann Barthès and Laurent Bon (the producer), I learned to avoid settling for the obvious.”
If he will miss the band and the good atmosphere of the show, the intense production rhythm less so.
“You can't cheat, maybe I was starting to...not get tired but I wanted to do other projects and since it's 5 days a week... And again, I often shot on weekends "
, he explains, adding:
"I also have a little girl so it wasn't easy.
There were all these questions so all of that played a role in my decision to stop
.
