A police officer killed two teenagers in an alleged robbery attempt in Loma Hermosa

Highlights: A Federal Police (PFA) agent shot dead two teenagers who allegedly approached him with the intention of stealing his car. The Federal Police officer was out in force and was approached by "three or four armed criminals" who were trying to steal his car. He defended himself by shooting. The young people were 17 years old. One died at the scene and the other at Fleming Hospital.

The Police reported that the incident took place around 11 p.m., at the intersection of 190th Street and 29 de Julio Passage, in the northwest area of ​​the Conurbano.

There was the PFA corporal who was on his day off, in civilian clothes, driving his Renault Clio.

According to what police spokespersons reported, the officer was approached by "three or four people" allegedly armed, who had the objective of stealing the Clio.

According to the same source, the officer did not identify himself as such, but he repelled the attack with his service weapon, shooting.

After the shots fired by the police, one of the assailants, Tiago Recartez, was wounded at the scene:

one of the bullets hit him in the chest.

Another of those involved in the robbery, Jonathan Díaz, also ended up badly injured with three gunshot wounds to his body:

in the chest, in one of his arms and in the neck.

The rest of the attackers, it is not clear how many, fled the scene after the fierce defense with gunfire that the officer presented.

They couldn't steal the vehicle.

Although a medical service arrived quickly at the scene,

Recartez lost his life at the moment.

Meanwhile, Díaz was sent to Fleming Hospital, but died after being treated by specialists.

"He died of hypovolemic shock, as a result of the gunshot wounds he received, according to the report from the healthcare center.

A judicial source explained to Télam that, beyond what the police reported, an attempt is being made to establish whether the dead teenagers or the accomplices who managed to escape were armed at the time of the incident.

For now, there is no witness statement or security cameras in the area that have captured what happened.

And during these hours, investigators continue with the rigorous investigations.

Among them is ballistics, to determine if only the police officer fired or if someone else also did so.

of violating the narcotics law, in a summary opened on May 24 of last year.

The prosecutor of the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 7 of San Martín, Diana Mayko, intervenes in the case, who has already ordered that the corporal's regulatory weapon be seized;

and she is waiting for her testimony which will be this Monday.

It will be key to determine if she acted in legitimate defense or if she committed some type of excess.

The case was classified as “Attempted robbery and double homicide.”
