A resident of Hora was accused of meeting with senior Hamas official Saleh al-Arouri, who was killed in Beirut, and of transferring tens of thousands of shekels to the terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip - this is what the Shin Bet and the police allowed to be published today (Monday). Osama Al-Okbi as well as his wife Samah, both Israeli citizens, were arrested last January.



As part of his investigation by the Shin Bet and the Negev Magistrate's Court and findings seized from his home, support and identification with Hamas ideology was revealed, along with evidence that he provided financial aid to a Hamas operative in the Gaza Strip in the amount of tens of thousands of shekels for years.



The investigation also shows that he made a cynical use of collecting donations for charity from mosques in the Negev, While in practice the funds were transferred by him to a Hamas operative in the Gaza Strip.

The findings of the investigation by the Shin Bet and the Negev Magistrate's Court revealed that Osama was in contact with senior Hamas officials abroad on several occasions, meeting with them personally as part of his flights to Turkey, while using his wife as a cover for a false representation of a couple's trip. As part of these meetings, Osama raised funds from Hamas operatives for His activities in the Negev.



During his last visit to Turkey in June 2023, Osama participated in a limited forum where he met both with a senior Hamas official close to the top of the Hamas leadership abroad, and with Saleh Arori, the deputy head of the Hamas Political Bureau.



At the end of his investigation by the Shin Bet and the police, attorney Yariv Tsari from the Southern District Attorney's Office submitted an indictment to the Be'er Sheva District Court against Al-Okbi, attributing to him the offenses of contact with a foreign agent, prohibition of operating on property for terrorist purposes.
