Activists from Ciudad Juárez condemned this Sunday the expulsion by the Texas National Guard of a group of migrants who had already crossed into the United States, as well as the attack suffered by the press that documented the event from the Mexican side.
EFE cameras documented from Mexico how two guards pushed at least three migrants who were already in US territory next to the wall, where they should not touch them, and forced them to return to the Rio Grande.
Upon seeing that the event was being documented, one of the elements of the Texas National Guard pointed a green laser beam at the EFE cameras, which has already damaged equipment of photojournalists in Ciudad Juárez.
Juan Fierro, director of the El Buen Samaritano shelter in Ciudad Juárez, assured that the Texas National Guard
has been empowered and has anticipated the entry into force on March 5 of Law SB4
, which will give them powers to detain and carry out deportations Immediate measures of migrants entering Texas through unauthorized points.
“The National Guard receives orders to keep these people away and if these people do not want to move away from the wall, they attack them and this will cause a conflict,” lamented the pastor who manages a shelter for migrants in Ciudad Juárez.
“This (the SB4 law) is somehow causing some authorities to behave in an aggressive manner because they are already being given the power to proceed,” said Pastor Fierro.
Zoyla Argentina Velazco Cañas, a migrant who arrived in Juárez from El Salvador, spoke about violence against people upon entering the United States.
“I have seen a lot of mistreatment towards our countrymen and other migrants, and it is not right that they do that to us, we do not come to harm anyone.
“We want a future for our family and what we want is to work to have a better future,” said the Salvadoran migrant.
He denounced that the xenophobia of the Texas Government has caused many deaths, and added that “that is not valid because there are human rights, they should have a little mercy for the children more than anything, the treatment is inhumane.”
