More tasks require more staff: this is also the case in the district town of Bad Tölz.

The city council recently looked at the staffing plan and agreed to an increase of 4.7 employees.

Bad Tölz – One man's joy is another man's sorrow.

This saying came true once again at the most recent city council meeting, when the city administration's staffing plan was discussed and unanimously approved.

While public sector employees can look forward to a salary increase this year, treasurer Silke Furmanek has to cope with 750,000 euros more in personnel costs.

She had actually only expected an additional cost of 400,000 euros.

Overall, Bad Tölz employs almost 200 people this year, 4.7 jobs more than last year

In total, the city employs almost 200 people this year, 4.7 more positions than last year.

As managing director Falko Wiesenhütter reported, one more position is needed this year to process the funding procedures.

This is necessary because many projects that concern a municipality are financially supported by the state, but the expected funding must first be compared and checked.

“We can't handle that with the current workforce of 194 positions.” Foregoing a lengthy procedure is also not a solution, said Mayor Ingo Mehner (CSU), and one is obliged to do so as soon as public funding is offered.

Bad Tölz: Personnel are needed in the registry, immigration and building offices as well as in the depot, sewage treatment plant and the fire department

A position will also be added in the registry office, as there has been an increase in weddings in Tölz.

The so-called civil status cases are also much more time-consuming than before, given the proportion of foreigners in the district town.

There will also be an increase in jobs at the building authority and depot.

A trainee is to be taken on at the sewage treatment plant.

An additional half position will also be created in the fire department.

In the course of his remarks, Wiesenhütter also made it clear that not every one of the 198.30 positions listed for 2024 in administration, building yard and sewage treatment plant had been filled.

Some positions are open and some part-time positions are advertised as half-time jobs, but are only filled for fewer hours, which means that the odd numbers are there.

Different cities, different customs: Tölz's mayor explains the difference

Johannes Gundermann (Greens) wanted to know whether comparisons could be made with other cities and municipalities;

Currently there is one city employee for every 100 citizens.

This calculation couldn't be done like that, said the mayor, some cities have a building yard, others don't, some outsource cleaning work;

others like Bad Tölz mainly work with their own staff due to better experience.

Tölz also built a sewage treatment plant in Farchet in 1972, into which the communities of Gaißach, Greiling, Reichersbeuern, Sachsenkam and Waakirchen discharge water.

Mehner: “They don’t have their own sewage treatment plants, they pay for it to the city, which in turn has to provide the staff.”

Retailer and FWG parliamentary group spokesman Peter von der Wippel also addressed the economic development department, which is staffed by a female employee and will only be a part-time position until the end of 2024.

After parental leave, however, it can be increased again, says Wiesenhütter.

Von der Wippel saw this as very important.
