A position paper submitted this morning (Monday) by the State Attorney's Office reveals that Justice Minister Yariv Levin still adheres to his position that the composition of the committee for selecting judges should be changed.

In doing so, Levin, who serves as chairman of the committee, continues to try and promote what is the highlight of the legal revolution.

The position paper was submitted by the prosecutor's office in relation to the petition submitted by the Lavi organization regarding alleged conflicts of interest in the work of the committee for the selection of judges.

In the right-wing organization, through attorney Yitzhak Bem, they attacked the fact that the two Supreme Court judges, Dafna Barak Erez and Yitzhak Amit, who are members of the committee, will participate in the discussion that will deal with the nomination of the legal assistants of the two who wish to become judges, as well as the nomination of two Supreme Court registrars

. We argued that the petition should be rejected outright. "The composition of the committee for selecting judges is problematic and leads to unbalanced results and the appointment procedures are riddled with failures.

It is appropriate to resolve the whole issue with a fundamental change in the composition of the committee for the selection of judges and in all of its working methods." Levin's position was stated at the beginning of the position that the attorney's office submitted to the High Court on behalf of all the members of the committee: three judges of the Supreme Court, four members of the Knesset, and two representatives Bar Association.

In relation to the Lavi organization's claims, the prosecutor's office reasoned that "in accordance with the instructions of the procedure of the committee for the prevention of conflicts of interest, the Honorable Judges Amit and Barak-Erez will not take part, and in any case they did not intend to take part, in the committee's decisions regarding candidates who serve as their legal assistants."

Tomorrow the committee for the selection of judges will meet, and will discuss the candidacy of two judges in the northern district.
