New problems for commuters: Verdi has called on employees of private bus companies to go on warning strikes for five days next week.
Kiel - With a five-day warning strike in the private bus industry in Schleswig-Holstein from February 26th, the Verdi union wants to increase the pressure on employers in collective bargaining.
“It is now time to make negotiable offers,” said Verdi spokesman Frank Schischefsky on Monday.
“At the same time, there is an offer to the employers to suspend the strike immediately if we receive a serious, negotiable offer.”
The union has called on all employees of private bus companies to go on a warning strike from the start of their shift on Monday until late shift on Friday next week.
This affects 1,500 employees in the Omnibus Association North (OVN), said Schischefsky.
The strike affects all commuters in the country's districts.
City traffic in the four independent districts of Kiel, Lübeck, Flensburg and Neumünster is not affected.
The union also called on the districts and municipalities to deregister traffic from the companies for the period of the strike and to stop payments.
So far, employers have made profits on the days, criticized Verdi.
The employees decided to give the collective bargaining commission a very strong message for the next negotiations.
Just last week there were warning strikes by bus drivers in the country.
According to the union, more than 2,400 of them took to the streets in Kiel on Friday.
Public bus workers went on strike from Wednesday to Friday.
After collective bargaining failed, employees of the private bus companies also stopped work on Thursday and Friday.
In addition to the introduction of a 35-hour week, the Verdi union is calling for shift length to be limited to a maximum of ten hours.
A minimum rest period of twelve hours is also required.
The term of the agreement should be twelve months.
