The government will take back control of the troubled former ILVA steelworks in the next few hours, Cabinet Secretary Alfredo Mantovano said after talks between the Acciaerie d'Italia (AdI) suppliers and ministers Mondaynight.
"In the next few hours, maximum in the next few days, the (Industry and Made in Italy) Ministry will proceed with the appointment of commissioners for Acciaierie d'Italia, and there will be a takeover of the company to ensure continuity and launch," he said.
Mantovano was speaking after talks between the government and AdI suppliers and satellite firms, who are currently owed over a reported 120 million euros after AdI's debts rose to over three billion euros amid an inability to pay suppliers and bills and amid a weeks-long blame game between the government and majorityshareholders ArcelorMittal.
