One of the most magnificent buildings in Schliersee is getting a new owner.

The Hotel Terofal right next to the Bauerntheater is for sale.

Schliersee

– It bears the name of a famous Schliersee that has shaped the community: the Hotel Terofal.

The co-founder of the farmer's theater next door, Xaver Terofal, owned the inn directly on the main road twice and until his death.

Later it changed hands more than once, and now it's about to happen again.

Christian Freund, who bought the house just four years ago, is selling it back.

On Immobilienscout24.de, 3.08 million euros are being called for.

Selling among Landshut friends

When asked, Freund cannot reveal why he is reselling the hotel.

However, the circumstances of the purchase in 2020 are known.

The previous owner Alfons Aigner wanted a property that was owned by Freund, and because they knew each other well - both businessmen are from Landshut - the deal came about.

The inn had to close during the first Corona lockdown in spring 2020, but it reopened in June under the aegis of Freund.

Aigner also did not own the Terofal for long.

He acquired it in mid-2017 from the Frenchman Brice Bethenod, who had owned it for eleven years.

House with 20 rooms and restaurant space for 113 people is comparatively small

The house is comparatively small with 40 beds in 20 rooms and has dining space for 113 people inside, the same number in the beer garden and 80 on the terrace.

Associated with ownership is the right to entertain guests at events in the farmer's theater, for which one bears no responsibility.

The hall belongs to the community.

Also included in the purchase price is the approximately 500 square meter property on the other side of the street.

“This would be quite suitable for a development,” says the property description.

At least the development plan in question knows nothing about this.

Wanted: “Host family who can build an existence here from day one”

Availability is stated as April 2024, and the property is suitable, for example, for a “host family who can build an existence here from day one”.

This raises the question of the future of Birgit Eham, who runs the house as operations manager and, for example, also continues the tradition of strong beer festivals started by her predecessor Alois Gartenleitner.

Eham himself does not comment on the subject, and Freund ultimately points out that what happens to the staff is in the hands of the new owner.

The house should be continued in a tradition-conscious manner

However, the Landshuter seems to be interested in a seamless transition; rooms can also be booked normally in the summer.

He will also be selective when it comes to winning the contract, says Freund.

“The house should be continued as it deserves to be - namely in a tradition-conscious manner.” There are already interested parties who could guarantee this.
