Special forces searched a vocational school in Mölln for hours.

The reason is an emergency call.

The background to the case is unclear.

Mölln - After an emergency call was received on Monday morning, a special operations team (SEK) was in action for hours at a vocational school in Mölln.

“The search did not lead to the arrest of a suspect and was completed at 3:50 p.m.,” the police finally announced in the afternoon.

The police were on site with around 150 emergency services.

At around 9 a.m., the police were informed via an emergency call that a student at the vocational school had reported an armed person in the school building.

He saw a person who had a gun in his waistband, police said.

He also heard a noise that was said to be a firearm being loaded.

“No shots were fired,” said the Duchy of Lauenburg district.

After the call, a major police operation began.

Emergency services cordoned off the area and special forces searched the school for several hours.

“Due to the assumed seriousness of a dangerous situation, effective protective equipment was ordered for the police officers deployed,” reported the police.

Meanwhile, the students locked themselves in the classrooms.

After the officers had searched individual building complexes, the classes in these parts of the school were gradually able to leave the building.

An estimated 1,500 students were affected by the measures.

Police questioned the students after they left their classrooms.

The witnesses' statements must now be evaluated in the coming days, as a police spokeswoman said.

The background to the incident is still unclear, and the criminal police's investigation is ongoing.

After the students left the building, they were taken by bus to a collection point for parents that the city of Mölln had set up in the town hall.

The district administration asked parents of affected students not to go to school in order to keep paths clear for emergency vehicles.
