The first photos taken by Odysseus have arrived, the private lander of the Texan company Intuitive Machines traveling towards the Moon and which should land on the lunar surface on February 22nd.
The images, taken during the final stages of the launch, are a sequence of shots showing the Earth becoming increasingly distant.
In the meantime, the journey of the Im-1 mission vehicle continues smoothly.
Over the weekend, the innovative methane and liquid oxygen engine was turned on to verify its full functioning and correct the course to reach our satellite.
Odysseus is expected to enter lunar orbit on February 21st and, after a series of complete orbits increasingly closer to the surface, the moon landing should take place on February 22nd.
If successful, Odysseus would become the first private vehicle to land on the moon.
Only in the next few hours, the managers of Intuitive Machines write on their website, will it be possible to communicate the expected time for the descent.
Meanwhile, the spectacular images taken during the first hours after the launch have been released on profile
The last photo taken with a wide angle shows the entire illuminated Earth disk and a large part of Odysseus.
