Everyone knows Neuschwanstein, Chiemsee and the Bavarian Forest.
But Bavaria has much more to offer.
You can find a few real insider tips here in our photo gallery.
1 / 9The Badersee in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a picturesque, small mountain lake in the municipality of Grainau.
At the foot of the Zugspitze and not far from the famous Eibsee, the bathing lake is very popular with connoisseurs - but is spared from crowds of tourists.

2 / 9The Almbachklamm likes to go down alongside the other famous gorges in southern Bavaria.
And that despite the fact that she is in no way inferior to her siblings.
It is a fascinating natural spectacle that takes place there in Marktschellenberg when the Almbach rushes thunderously into the Almbachklamm at the foot of the Untersberg.
A wild romance that inspires surprisingly few visitors year after year.

3 / 9The picturesque Barmsee is the largest lake in the Karwendel Alpine world and lies directly at the foot of the Karwendel Mountains.
What is particularly spectacular is the magnificent reflection of the water, be it in the reddish sunset, the white-blue of the summer sky or the dreamy winter landscape.

4 / 9The Schmuttersee is a real insider tip in Ostallgäu.
Located somewhat hidden in the beautiful Alpine panorama between Lechbruck and Roßhaupten, you can swim there and enjoy the largely untouched landscape.
There are shady and sunny places there, and thanks to its shallow slope and warm temperatures, the lake is particularly suitable for children to swim in.

5 / 9The Blauberge in the foothills of the Alps are a well-known travel destination, especially because of the hike on and around the Schildenstein on Lake Tegernsee.
But not the wonderfully quiet peaks like the Reitstein and Platteneck (pictured).
It's unusually lonely up here, far away from the crowds of tourists - but with at least the same view and natural beauty.
A real insider tip for hikers in the south of Bavaria.

6 / 9The Black Moor is located in the north of Bavaria and is part of the Rhön Biosphere Reserve.
It is one of the most important and largest raised bogs in Central Europe.
Visitors walking along the wooden path through the moor can observe capercaillies and black grouse.
The Black Moor is an impressive and unique natural landscape - but fortunately it is spared from crowds of tourists.

7 / 9The Hinanger waterfall is a real insider tip for nature lovers.
It is located south of Sonthofen in the Oberallgäu district.
The waterfall itself is twelve meters high, and the Hinanger Bach has a total height difference of 25 meters.

8 / 9The Nördlinger Ries is a special landscape formation in western Bavaria.
It goes back to the so-called Ries event, which represents a meteorite impact around 14.6 million years ago.
The Nördlinger Ries is therefore an almost circular, almost 350 square kilometer crater that stands out noticeably flat from the otherwise hilly landscape.

9 / 9The so-called Tirschenreuther Teichpfanne in the Upper Palatinate extends over more than 2,000 hectares.
It lies in the triangle between the towns of Tirschenreuth, Mitterteich and Wiesau.
Most of the ponds look back on a long history - they were created in the Middle Ages.
An interesting and unknown nature in the northeast of the Free State.
