The Protestant parish of Peiting and the Welfen-Gymnasium Schongau offer a holiday program for primary school children.

It's a pilot project.

Peiting - Bringing the church into society: This is what the Protestant parish of Peiting has taken up as its mission and has found an ally in Barbara Edinger, who is now starting another pilot project together with students from the Welfen-Gymnasium: During the Pentecost holidays, ten students will look after social services Branch of the Welfen-Gymnasium in Peiting primary school students from the first to the fourth grade.

The plan is currently for the first four working days of the first week of the holidays, i.e. from Tuesday, May 21st to Friday, May 24th.

Brainstorming in the reading and learning room in the Peitingen community and parish library, which is open every Thursday for elementary school students who are looked after there for an hour - this is also a project of the Protestant Church.

Quiana Kögl, Cameron Brown, Greta Kirchbichler and Moritz Edinger breed here.

They are all ninth graders who chose the social branch at the Welfen Gymnasium Schongau.

For you, this means that in three school years you have to complete a total of 15 days of internship in the social sector during the holidays.

Win-win situation for students and parents

Quiana is looking forward to working with children, “it will definitely be a lot of fun.”

“This is something different, we haven’t done anything like this before,” adds Cameron.

Because there has been no framework for school children to do internships during the school holidays, students' internships have so far been limited to kindergartens and retirement homes.

The Peiting Evangelical Church's offer opens up completely new doors - for both students and parents, who gain freedom when it comes to covering the school holidays with their own vacation.

A win-win situation, so to speak.

For Greta, this internship during the Whitsun holidays offers another special aspect: “The great thing is that we can also organize something ourselves.” Moritz Edinger is an enthusiastic footballer himself.

He wants to get elementary school students excited about sports with a kind of soccer camp.

Cameron imagines offering something involving tennis.

Also in the planning: cooking and baking together in the Protestant church parlor.

Crafts, jewelry making, and if the weather is good and the outdoor pool is open, even a day of swimming.

Six more tenth graders join the planning and internship team.

The following applies to the four days: The program looks different every day, both in terms of content and times.

Lunch is also planned.

Parents can register children for individual days or for all days.

The number of participants is limited.

Details are still being worked out.
