The Renault Trucks company has announced the construction of a new 46,000 m2 building on its historic site in Saint-Priest (metropolis of Lyon).
An investment of 132 million euros to make this location its new global spare parts distribution center.
The French manufacturer and the Volvo group of which it is part judged that the current century-old building of the distribution center, located in Vénissieux, was
“no longer adapted to the environmental and operational requirements of logistics activities”
.
“Renault Trucks studied all options, including transferring the activity to another site. The manufacturer finally chose to relocate its logistics platform to the Saint-Priest site, at the current location of its bridge and axle manufacturing plant. The latter is also preparing to move to Vénissieux, a neighboring town, as close as possible to the engine manufacturing plant
,” Renault Trucks indicated in a press release.
500 jobs
The new building will accommodate nearly 500 employees and will consist of a
“flexible and scalable”
warehouse incorporating standard storage, a fully automated area dedicated to small parts, or even a space reserved for battery storage.
The rehabilitation work will last three years and will first require the destruction of the existing building and the decontamination of the soil.
According to Renault Trucks, the new distribution center is designed to be a positive energy building.
Equipped with photovoltaic panels across the entire roof, it will produce renewable electricity to cover its own needs.
Its operation should begin in mid-2028.
