Ostallgäu/Oberallgäu – Farmers’ protests appear to be continuing in the Ostallgäu and Oberallgäu districts.
In the night from Sunday to Monday, the Allgäu Integrated Control Center was informed of several fires in Ostallgäu that had been ignited on roundabouts, reports the Schwaben Süd/West police press office.
The fire brigade and police registered around a dozen such fires overnight.
The first fires were reported in the Marktoberdorf police station area around 11 p.m.
Around half an hour later, reports of fires in northern Oberallgäu were received and around 11:45 p.m. there was a report of another fire in the Nesselwang area.
Around a dozen fires involving hay bales, car tires, gallows and coffins
The emergency services followed up on the reports and subsequently discovered, in addition to the fires that had already been reported, other fires that had already gone out.
In one case, a spark that had already burned out was re-ignited.
The police suspect that there was a protest background, as isolated symbols such as a gallows or a coffin could be found near the fires.
All fires were unregistered and unsupervised.
Accordingly, the officers did not find anyone responsible for the fire anywhere.
The exact number of fires has not yet been conclusively determined.
In most cases, hay bales and discarded car tires burned.
According to the current status of the investigation, no major property damage was caused by the fire; a detailed inspection will take place later in the day.
