Sergeant Simon Shlomov, 20 years old from Kiryat Bialik, was killed yesterday (Sunday) in a battle in the southern Gaza Strip. Shlomov is a fighter in the 202nd Battalion of the Parachute Brigade. Shlomov, a lone soldier, immigrated to Israel from Kazakhstan without his parents in 2018, in a special program of the Ministry of Education - and lived In the "Meir Shafia" youth village near the Ya'akov memorial. When he became an adult, Shlomov moved to Kiryat Bialik and lived in a shared apartment in the city.

"He was an exemplary trainee.

Everyone here in the village will say that what they remember from him is his help to others and his constant smile," he told Walla! Yoram Tanias, director of the Meir Shafia youth village, where Shlomov lived for three years. "They say that God takes the good to him, I didn't believe it, but now I got proof that it is Right.

He excelled in everything.

He was an outstanding dairy farmer.

He excelled in sports, theoretical studies, and also in order and cleanliness.

He had his own corner that he took great care of.

He was a boy who did everything as well as possible.

He was also a good student and worked every spare moment to send money to his mother in Kazakhstan."

"He worked here in the barn and in the dining room.

Barfat would go down to Eilat and work in hotels and everything for the family that stayed there.

He finished the twelfth grade and then went to Harel Preparatory School in Jerusalem," Tanias said.

"He kept talking about wanting to be a fighter and volunteered for the paratroopers. All of us here were in touch with him. Dana Hori, the school's deputy principal, used to host him for meals during the holidays. Unfortunately, the Nealah project suffered quite a few casualties among the graduates, and this morning I received the bitter news from the headmaster the project.

"During the war we were in contact with him, we heard about high morale, about a good mood," said Orly Tam, Shafia's alumni coordinator, "Simon was a very 'fighter' in this part of the fighting. We heard from him about his understanding of the mission, and that they fight hard And 'giving jobs' the last time we heard from him was just before February 11, when they once again went deep into Gaza and we could no longer be in contact with him."
