The city is making the planning for the renovation of the indoor swimming pool dependent on the construction of the thermal energy center (WEZ) at the Moralt distributor.

Bad Tölz - In view of the federal and global political developments, the Tölzer Stadtwerke will also be implementing various major projects in the next few years, above all the construction of the thermal energy center (WEZ) at the Moralt distributor, including the associated pipe network.

At its meeting on January 30, 2024, the city council, as the responsible body for the shareholder - the city of Bad Tölz - approved this construction, according to a city press release.

“The fundamental questions about financing have been largely clarified,” said Birte Stahl, the city’s spokeswoman.

Decision probably in 2025

A few days ago, the municipal utilities began building the supply lines in the area of Lenggrieser Strasse and Kohlstattstrasse.

The supervisory board of the municipal utilities and the city council have decided not to make a final decision on the further major indoor swimming pool project until there is cost certainty with regard to the construction of the WEZ, Stahl continued.

“This will become foreseeable with the tenders and completion of the first trades for the system at the Moralt distributor.” The decision to renovate the indoor swimming pool could probably be made in 2025.

Ingo Mehner, mayor of Tölz and chairman of the supervisory board of the municipal utilities, explains the background to the staggered approach: “Projects of this dimension are anything but everyday for the municipal utilities.

For this reason, risks that could arise from simultaneous implementation should be reduced,” he is quoted in the press release.

This is currently planned

There are now concrete plans for the indoor swimming pool renovation, Stahl continued.

In addition to the necessary ceiling and roof renovation, this also provides for the renewal of the 25-meter pool including the pool surround and the bathing water technology.

In addition, the toddler area is to be expanded and the access and staff areas are to be renewed.

It is also planned to redesign the sauna garden, add a rest house and redesign the associated changing area so that the sauna area has its own entrance.
