After Le Havre, La Rochelle and Lorient, it will soon be the turn of the city of Bordeaux to acquire a
“port center”
, called
“Le Pavillon”
.
This new place,
“open to residents of the port city and to visitors who want to discover the functioning and projects of the port”
, should soon emerge from the ground in the Port of the Moon.
A project announced during the greeting ceremony of the Grand Maritime Port of Bordeaux (GPMB), at the end of January.
“ Port
centers”
are places developed by the International Association of Cities and Ports (AIVP), an organization founded in 1988 and based in Le Havre, which wishes to
“bring together the city and the port”
.
The Bordeaux project, carried out jointly by the GPMB, the metropolis as well as the Maritime and Port Union, will be installed in the water basins district,
“both at the heart of the ship repair activity and in the heart of the city »
.
“The “Le Pavillon” building will be opened soon to offer educational activities, exhibitions and visits
,” explains the GPMB.
A temporary exhibition was also inaugurated at the end of January on the site of this future
“port center”
.
“The port center will emerge as a space for dialogue, aiming to unveil the mysteries of the port, a specialized port which excels in the fields of energy and the circular economy, playing a strategic role for various industrial sectors,”
announces the AIVP, for whom this project
“symbolizes the collective desire to place the port at the heart of urban life and the concerns of citizens”
.
A project which should
“contribute to enriching the maritime heritage of Bordeaux and strengthening the links between the city and its port”
.
