Public works and Santa Cruz were in the same sentence for decades.
Even in court records.
But now it represents for Governor Claudio Vidal a substantial cut by the National Executive Branch.
He will stop receiving 24,830 million
that were contemplated for works in progress on
central national routes such as 3 and 40
.
The cut includes
tenders that had been awarded to businessman Cristóbal López
through his firm CPC SA.
Given the unpredictability of national funds, the owner of the Indalo Group withdrew from one of the contracts he had won.
When it comes to using the calculator and adding up everything that President Javier Milei will stop sending in funds to the province of Santa Cruz,
the global figure shows 57,000 million pesos.
In a province where
more than 70% depend on the public administration
, concern is increasing during these hours.
When that figure begins to be broken down, it is observed that the greatest drain will be on public works.
Many of the contracts correspond to
funds that National Roads sent to the Provincial Roads Agency
for various contracts, some of them recently awarded and others in the process of execution.
The brake on public works will affect an extensive list of
road paving works, connectivity of provincial roads
with national arteries, and the maintenance of many sections on National Route 3 and 40.
The Provincial Road Agency and the headquarters of the agency at the national level in Santa Cruz soil made an extensive list of the works for which they will no longer receive income from the Casa Rosada.
There are a total of
40 works,
some of which are in progress and others that had been awarded but have not yet started.
The details of the works
In this list of unfinished works, those that were awarded through contracts are eight, for a value of 12,794,620,889 pesos.
They correspond to the construction of routes and roads.
This set of tenders for different tasks on provincial roads includes Route 16, which connects part of the oil zone as Route 18 and Provincial Route 43.
On this provincial path, the budget cut includes the work tendered in March 2023, for 5,164,017,182.35 pesos.
The contract was awarded to the sole bidder: CPC SA, of Cristóbal López, with an execution period of 24 months.
According to official sources, the construction company - which had not started the execution stage -
withdrew from the work
due to the unpredictability of the corresponding payments by the National State.
Regarding
road conservation
, Santa Cruz will no longer receive 401,879,288 pesos.
Another important figure corresponds to the item of
works by administration.
It is comprised of 21 works, many of them on Routes 3 and 40, the two most important national corridors.
The money accounted for those twenty contracts is 11,540,022,000 pesos.
There is another set of items that are distributed among the Provincial Road Districts in various points of Santa Cruz, which accumulate 95,032,137 pesos.
Thus, in total, in terms of public works, the province now governed by Claudio Vidal will see a reduction in income of 24,830 million pesos.
Other cuts
There are two central aspects that concern the Patagonian governor at this time.
On the one hand, the cut of the National Executive Branch includes
the teaching incentive, which represents 6.8 billion pesos
and which will have to be met with local funds.
“It reduces the Education budget and conditions the joint discussion that has just begun,” the province of Santa Cruz said in a statement.
Another concept through which the Nation reduced the sending of money to the southern district is the 50% by agreement that they used to send to
the Social Security Fund.
“The drop in the area of Social Security Assistance is more than 8 billion pesos.
