At the Yvelines departmental council, “everyone agrees on the fact that public services represent budgetary room for maneuver,” laments Tristan Fournet.
The general secretary of the CGT union within this community regrets that none of the elected officials who voted for the initial 2024 budget “questions the substance of the sharing of wealth”.
This budget, adopted unanimously on December 15, marks a sharp reduction in operating resources, in a context of falling tax revenue for the department linked to the reduction in real estate transactions.
In two letters sent this Monday to departmental elected officials and parliamentarians from Yvelines, the CGT criticizes this reduction in an operating budget already “25% below the national average”.
The union fears that the department is heading towards “catastrophe”, particularly on the environmental aspect, prevention and protection of children, and solidarity missions.
For him, this would
ultimately
even create more expenses to repair the broken problems.
The union proposes projects to be abandoned
However, according to Tristan Fournet, “finding the 140 million euros elsewhere can go quickly by abandoning a contested project”.
In its press release, the CGT targets, for example, four expensive projects which are sometimes denounced for their environmental impact: the connection between the D30 and the D190 (or Achères bridge), the diversion of the D154 via the Verneuil woods, the experiment teleconsultation booths, as well as the renovation of a departmental building in Versailles.

If it hopes above all, through these letters, to convince the department to be reminded of its responsibilities, the union does not forget to scratch the State.
The CGT urges the latter to “truly give the means to communities” by finding the money in a wealth tax, the fight against tax fraud, or the end of employer subsidies without binding commitment on employment or employment. environment.
