Time and time again, special objects bring a smile to the faces of “Cash for Rares” dealers.

Two antique spice bowls now drove up the bids.

Much to the delight of the sellers.

Cologne – Viewers were once again able to watch an exciting bidding duel on the ZDF program “Bares für Rares”.

Evelin and Wolfgang, the happy owners of a pair of silver Saliers, were able to turn an old gift into cash.

Moderator Horst Lichter was also enthusiastic.

“Cash for Rares”: The couple actually only wanted Waldi’s “80 euros”

“Where did you get that?” cult presenter Horst Lichter asked the likeable couple right at the beginning of the conversation.

“We once received this as a gift from an old lady.

“It was a kind of souvenir when we invited them over,” they replied.

As the saying goes: Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

But the question arises as to whether the rarity is really worth anything.

Of course, the couple took the opportunity to find out more about the property.

Expert Patrick Lessmann identified the rarities as old spice bowls with corresponding spoons that previously served as centerpieces.

Each Saliere consists of two halves of a scallop, the insides and the spoons are gold-plated.

The handles are designed in the shape of two dolphins.

What do Evelin and Wolfgang want in return?

“We thought about Waldi’s 80 euros,” the two explained with a smile.

Higher than Expertise: Silver Saliers sold for multiples

The expert examined the objects again with a trained eye and gave an estimated value of 150 to 200 euros.

Shortly after entering the dealer room, great interest sparked among the dealers.

In the bidding duel, the bids quickly exceeded the estimated value.

Fabian Kahl opened with 150 euros, followed by Jos van Katwijk with 170 euros.

Walter “Waldi” Lehnertz and Wolfgang Pauritsch also took part in the competition for the silver medal.

Great joy with “Cash for Rares”: In the end, much more came out of it than initially hoped.

The tension rose as Lehnertz and van Katwijk engaged in a bidding war.

Ultimately, van Katwijk secured the set with a final bid of 320 euros.

Evelin and Wolfgang were overjoyed with the result, which exceeded their desired price four times.

"Excellent!

320 euros, more than expected,” said Evelin happily.

Wolfgang added: “We didn’t expect that!” Time and time again, beautiful and curious rarities fascinate the dealers and experts at “Bares für Rares”.
