The participant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 has been determined.
But how is the preliminary decision winner Isaak received by ARD viewers?
ESC fans are divided online.
Berlin - In recent years, none of the German Eurovision Song Contest candidates made it into the top 20 - except for Michael Schulte (33), who reached fourth place in 2018 with his song "You Let Me Walk Alone".
But if you look at the comments online, the ARD viewers don't believe in the victory of this year's German participant Isaak (29).

The winner of the ESC preliminary round has been decided: Isaak will travel to Malmö as a participant for Germany and perform his song “Always On The Run” at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

Although the 29-year-old received the most votes in the ESC preliminary round, opinions online are divided.
“It won’t happen again!
20th place downwards,” said an ARD viewer on X (formerly Twitter).
“Hmmm – I would have much preferred Mutzke.
With this song I'm guessing 20-24th place," another Eurovision Song Contest fan agrees, and another X user writes that Isaak would be "Meat Loaf without a voice."

Isaak also has fans: some ESC viewers are keeping their fingers crossed for him for Malmö
But the voices online are not only negative.
Some are happy for the ESC participant and wish Isaak good luck at the final in Malmö.
“I'm very happy with this result, even though I was for Ryk all the time!
Don't be so negative, I can very well imagine a solid placement.
Good job, Isaak,” it says on

The favorites of the evening were actually the singer Max Mutzke (42), who took part in the ESC in 2004 and took eighth place, and pop star Marie Reim (23), but in the end both lost to Isaak and his winning song.
Unfortunately, the collective thumbs-up of the pop scene for Marie Reim didn't bring her any luck.
