A priest from Don Benito (Badajoz) and his romantic partner have been arrested as part of an operation against the sale of Viagra and other powerful aphrodisiac substances.

According to research sources, this parish priest, well known in the municipality of more than 37,000 inhabitants and belonging to the parish of San Sebastián, enjoyed great popularity among the neighbors for his closeness to the citizens and for his different way of exercising his duties. priesthood.

In Don Benito, there are a total of six parish priests and now all eyes are on him.

The arrests were carried out on Monday in the home that the priest shares with a man, his partner, something that was known in the town.

During the search, the Civil Guard agents seized abundant stimulating material ready to sell, which this priest allegedly distributed among his clientele.

The investigations began months ago, when the Civil Guard became aware of these alleged sales of substances by both the priest and another man.

After the corresponding monitoring, the agents verified the movement of people who came to this place to purchase the products irregularly.

Those arrested are charged with the crime of trafficking substances harmful to health outside the legal circuit.

The Government delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana, has confirmed that there are two detainees in this Civil Guard operation, but he did not want to give more details as the investigations are currently open.

The detainees are expected to be brought to justice throughout the day.

The diocese of Plasencia, to which the parishes of Don Benito belong, regrets the arrest of this priest "due to the pain, suffering and scandal that these events entail" and points out that it is "waiting for the facts to be clarified."
