It's the last straight line.
This Saturday, February 24, two young women trained at the Bergerie nationale de Rambouillet (Yvelines) will defend the colors of Île-de-France at the International Agricultural Show, in Paris (15th).
Will they achieve the title of Best Shepherdess in France?
At the end of January, Alexia Hurtevent, 20, and Amélie Lamperière, 19, won the regional final, organized in Rambouillet as part of the 19th Ovinpiades for young shepherds.
Having become a true institution in the sector, this competition is offered each year by the Bergerie nationale and Inn'Ovin - a program which brings together the entire sheep industry -, with the objective of arousing vocations and promoting the job.
In the coming years, more than one in two sheep farmers will retire.
And according to data from 2022, only 46% of sheep meat consumed in the country is produced in France.
