An abandoned bathtub on the Circumvesuviana tracks.
This is what the driver of an EAV (Volturno Autonomous Body) train found himself faced with last night near the level crossing in via Crapolla, in Pompeii, between the stations of Pompei and Scafati.
The president of the EAV himself, Umberto De Gregorio, who also posted a photo, wrote about the incident on his Facebook page and wrote how "fortunately the train driver had the time and concentration to slow down and avoided a disaster ".
De Gregorio also recalls how, again yesterday evening, but on the Naples-Piedimonte Matese line, a car "remained trapped in the level crossing at km 220+821 (Infrastructure manager RFI)".
"The railway must be protected - the conclusion of the EAV president - and all level crossings must be eliminated as soon as possible. Yet we find resistance every time we attempt suppression"
