A society that no longer wishes to provide itself with models would no longer have any idea of greatness and would believe itself to be perfect, so to speak, thereby depriving itself of any possibility of improvement.
We all need to admire, and there is nothing healthier than this sort of legitimate hierarchy recognized by all.
Holiness played this role in ancient Christian society: saints were admired and attempts were made clumsily, and often unsuccessfully, to imitate them.
We are not only sending great writers to the Pantheon whose talent is growing France, but great resistance fighters, thereby congratulating courage in the service of the homeland.
