“They were terrifying moments.”

This is how the four witnesses who have given statements before the judge investigating the case have defined the fire that devastated two nightclubs in Murcia on October 1.

All of them were in the reserved boxes of Fonda Milagros, the room in which the 13 fatalities of the fire were recorded, and they were the last people who managed to leave the premises in a way, they say, "miraculous", since no one alerted them of the fire and there was no exit marked either, so they did the entire eviction by their own means, as stated this Tuesday.

One of the witnesses, Efraín MM, explained to journalists after appearing before the judge that the eight people who were in the reserved area of the establishment managed to leave the burning room because they were regular customers and knew the establishment.

In the box attached to the one they occupied, the bodies of the 13 fatal victims were found.

Efraín MM has narrated the moments of anguish that he experienced that October 1: “We were doing great and suddenly the music turned off,” he said, but since that had happened other times they did not give it any importance, he assured.

However, they soon began to “smell burnt” and decided to leave the booth, which was on an upper floor, in a U shape, over the dance floor.

They left the room “calmly,” but, seconds later, the power went out and chaos began: groping and guided by the mental map of the venue that they remembered, they reached the dance floor, but there “was no one there anymore.” .

“No one warned,” Efraín MM denounced. “That is the hardest thing, because there were firefighters, police, and many people outside.

The eviction was all on our part,” he lamented.

Her partner, Ámbar Estefanía DN, was the last person to leave Fonda Milagros alive and this Tuesday she said, through tears, that “someone” closed the door behind her, and that she had to warn that there were still people in the boxes reserved.

She has told reporters that after that night she is still receiving psychological treatment.

The lawyer who represents these two witnesses and four other survivors who shared the nightclub box with them, in addition to the relatives of a deceased person, Rosa Egea, has limited herself to confirming that all of them will appear as victims in the judicial procedure. , in which six people are currently being investigated for possible crimes of 13 reckless homicides.

For the lawyer Pedro López Graña, who represents the relatives of two of the fatal victims and who was present at the hearing, the statements of the four witnesses who appeared before the judge on Tuesday refute the versions that have been made in recent weeks. were given by those responsible for both Fonda Milagros and Teatre, where the police consider that the fire originated, since all of them stated that the rooms complied with security measures.

However, witnesses have corroborated the absence of emergency exits and their signage, or fire alarms.

Eight other witnesses are called to testify on March 1 in this investigation phase of the procedure.
