Made a government priority, the fight against violence against women is equipped in Charente-Maritime with two new tools.

Tested since last summer during several sports competitions and in football clubs in the department, an interactive violence prevention terminal (BIP) is available to municipalities and associations.

Designed to combat gender-based and sexual violence, this digital tool informs its users – particularly the youngest – of unacceptable and reprehensible behavior.

It also provides access to all the contacts necessary to “free the floor” with professionals.

Another tool expected this time for fall 2024: a traveling van to cover the territory.

Funded by the State to the tune of 50,000 euros, this converted truck will complement the existing systems and will also allow “early identifications”, assures Quentin Brisset, the general director of Tremplin 17, the association in charge of the project.

“Other players will be able to benefit from it for their activities,” adds Quentin Brisset.

“These two tools – the interactive terminal and the van – are a plus for Charente-Maritime, they did not exist before.

We must do more, better and everywhere,” argued prefect Brice Blondel during their presentation on February 9 in Jonzac.

In 2023, nearly 1,900 cases handled by law enforcement concerned victims of domestic violence (+14% compared to 2022).

Around sixty serious danger telephones and 12 anti-reconciliation bracelets were also activated.

The CIDFF 17, victim support service, received 2,448 people: 60% of them were victims of domestic violence.
