The renovation and new construction of the Eichenried children's home will be more expensive than expected.

The municipality of Moosinning is therefore postponing a decision.

Moosinning - Renovation and new construction of the children's home in Eichenried were once again a topic in the Moosinning local council.

However, due to the high costs, a final decision was postponed.

Sebastian Hrycyk from the Munich architectural firm of the same name was a guest and presented the final calculation for the new construction and renovation of the children's home in Eichenried.

Initially the calculation was at 7.9 million euros, “then, to the mayor’s dismay, the costs shot up to around 8.5 million euros,” said Hrycyk.

He then explained which measures were essential, such as cleaning up pollutants or sound insulation for the heat pumps.

It's not the case "that you're doing something particularly nice," he clarified: "We've made several rounds of savings so that we can get down to eight million.

Now we are at 8.11 million euros.”

For example, the lighting has been reduced, there is no boot washing system, and there is no partition wall to the dining room.

However, a roof was added for the entrance area.

“Now we have to decide whether the project will go into the next round,” he concluded.

Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2024, completion of the new building is targeted for the end of 2025, and the renovation is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.

The plan is to accommodate six groups and the gym should then be available again.

“How realistic is it that it will be cheaper, because prices are currently going down,” Andreas Eschbaumer (CSU) wanted to know.

“There is no buffer in it,” Hrycyk replied.

“I can’t promise anything about that.” Werner Fleischer (BE) asked what it would be like with subsidies.

“When building a new building, it is based on the cost guideline, i.e. per square meter, and when renovating it is based on a percentage,” replied managing director Silvia Hermansdorfer.

The municipality can expect a total of around 2.5 million euros in donations.

“So I’m very critical of the 8.1 million,” said Manfred Lex (CSU).

“I know that it costs something, and I am aware of the responsibility for our children, but I am against us making a decision now.” After all, there have been no budget discussions yet, “and I would like to see how “We are planning the budget for 2024 and 2025.”

And Lex added: “We already have a significant imbalance of 9.1 million euros, and we also have other construction sites.”

That's why Lex suggested that we first approve the budget and then make a decision.

“You spoke from my heart,” replied Mayor Georg Nagle (SPD).

“That’s exactly what I wanted to suggest.” Which he did.

“I didn’t sugarcoat anything, but I didn’t extrapolate anything either,” Hrycyk told the local councilors.

They then unanimously decided to take note of the cost calculation.

The budget consultations will be awaited before a decision is made.

These will take place on Tuesday, February 20th, from 7 p.m. in the meeting room of the Moosinning town hall.
