Two former mayors of Turin and a former governor of the surrounding Piedmont region have been indicted for allegedly failing to take adequate measures to stem smog emergencies in the northwestern Italian city in recent years.
Former governor Sergio Chiamparino and former mayors PieroFassino and Chiara Appendino will go on trial on June 18.
They are a number of former local and regional administrators accused of failing to take proper countermeasures against dangerous air pollution over the years.
