A 25-year-old freaked out at the Lenggrieser Festwoche and kicked a car.

This wasn't his first crime.

The judge now threatened imprisonment.

Lenggries

- A 25-year-old's visit to the Lenggrieser Festwoche last year had a repercussion at the district court in Wolfratshausen.

The young man, who lived in Lenggries at the time, was sentenced to a fine of 2,200 euros for damaging property.

Defendant denies allegations

On the night of August 4th to 5th, 2023, the defendant is said to have demolished a car in the parking lot at the Volksfestplatz by kicking the driver's door with his foot.

The material damage amounts to around 1000 euros.

The accused himself denied the crime ("I've never seen this car before"), but he was observed walking through the row of parking spaces.

The injured party also recognized him in court as the man who had come towards him that night and kicked in the door as he passed.

Passers-by then held the perpetrator and handed him over to the police.

2200 euros fine for kicking car door

“What the gentleman says is a lie,” the defendant had the interpreter translate after the injured party’s statement.

He celebrated at the folk festival that day.

As he made his way home, he was “attacked by six or seven young people,” the man claimed.

He became unconscious and only came to at the police station.

He has no memory of the time in between.

Judge Berger threatens imprisonment

The court believed the witnesses and sentenced the 25-year-old to a fine of 110 daily rates of 20 euros each, a total of 2,200 euros.

He must also bear the costs of the procedure.

The fact that he had already been brought to justice four times since his arrival in Germany was a detriment to the young man - for driving without a license, illegal possession of narcotics, fraudulently obtaining benefits and damage to property.

Which is why the court clearly addressed the defendant: “I don’t know whether you should behave like that, fleeing the terrible conditions at home and committing one crime after another here.

If he doesn’t like it here, he’s welcome to leave, no one is holding him,” judge Helmut Berger translated.

And he made it clear that a limit had now been reached: “If he continues to commit crimes, there will be a prison sentence here, in this court, next time – for sure.”
