Lilou Varga (12) from Hebertshausen won the district round of the reading competition.

Now she is getting ready for the district decision.

The student spoke about it with the local newspaper.

Dachau

- Eleven students and one student from different schools in the Dachau district came to the Josef-Effner-Gymnasium on Monday for the district decision of the reading competition.

The school's best students read to the jury members and the students' parents and companions.

In the end, Lilou Varga from Markt Indersdorf High School won.

The twelve-year-old from Hebertshausen is a real bookworm - with a true radio play voice.

Congratulations on this win, Lilou!

How does it feel to be the winner of the reading competition in the Dachau district?

Lilou Varga: Thank you.

At first I was rather surprised because I actually thought that I wasn't that good because I made a mistake.

But then I was very happy.

How did you practice for the competition?

I practiced with my dad and read to my whole family, my parents and my brother and sister.

They then said what I could improve.

How much do you read in your free time?

I read a lot.

I always get a lot of books as gifts, for my birthday and stuff like that.

And I always read them quickly.

Which books do you particularly enjoy reading?

My news

  • Tempo 30 along the bathroom construction site

  • “Gustl, why did it have to happen now?” - Farmer and local politician August Haas dies at the age of 62 read

  • Outraged parents don't let up

  • Petershauser Bahnhofstrasse will be renovated in March

  • Theft in the cemetery - unknown people break bronze bowls from gravestones

After brutal attack in Dachau: perpetrator in custody

My favorite books are the Woodwalkers, which is a fantasy book series.

It's about teenagers who can transform into animals.

What's so beautiful about reading?

When you read, there is another world.

And if, for example, I'm not feeling so well and I read, then I feel better afterwards.

What is the name of your winning book?

The Blueberry House by Antonia Michaelis.

A friend gave me a voucher for a book for my birthday, so I chose that one.

I liked it, that's why I chose it.

What was the process like for the reading competition?

First everyone read from their personally selected books, then there was a break, then we read the foreign text, then the jury deliberated, and then the certificates and prizes were distributed to everyone.

Do you have any tips if you want to take part in the reading competition yourself?

What should you pay attention to?

You should have fun reading to someone.

And maybe you should imagine what you are reading.

Did you win a prize?

I got two books!

They will be read through soon.

A jury member said that you have a radio play voice.

That's a great compliment!

Yes very.

I would even think it would be nice to take part in a radio play.

Thank you for the interview and good luck with the district decision!

Thanks.
