Provisionally suspended since February 8, the fencer must convince the International Fencing Federation (FIE) of her innocence by the Olympic Games if she wants to be able to participate in her “dream”. The origin of the contamination identified? “My team and I are moving in the right direction and we have already been able to identify the probable origin of this contamination despite my daily vigilance and precautions,” she says.

Will we see Ysaora Thibus again by the 2024 Olympic Games?

To hope to be present in Paris next summer, the foilist, who tested positive for ostarine on January 14, has just given up on analyzing the B sample.

“With 156 days until the Olympic Games, it is imperative that I can present my defense as part of an expedited procedure aimed at lifting my suspension to allow me to participate.

This is why I decided, in consultation with my team and in order to shorten the time of this procedure as much as possible, to abandon the analysis of the B sample,” wrote the 2022 world champion in a press release.

The origin of the contamination identified?

Ysaora Thibus at the same time recognizes the results of the positive test for sample A. “It appears from the explorations carried out by my team that I was indeed exposed by contamination, in spite of myself, during the control period”, explains the one who “always denies with the greatest firmness” having administered “the slightest doping substance” such as ostarine.

Provisionally suspended since February 8, the fencer must convince the International Fencing Federation (FIE) of her innocence by the Olympic Games if she wants to be able to participate in her “dream”.

“My team and I are moving in the right direction and we have already been able to identify the probable origin of this contamination despite my daily vigilance and precautions,” she says, still in her press release.

It remains to be seen whether this will be enough to convince the FIE.
