During a large-scale inspection, the police checked more than 60 truck and bus drivers.
Unfortunately, the complaint rate was unpleasantly high.
Schongau
- Police officers from the Weilheim traffic police checked heavy traffic in both directions on the Lechtal Bridge from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20th, as part of the Europe-wide “Truck&Bus” campaign week.
The officers examined more than 60 truck and bus drivers and their vehicles.
The Peiting road maintenance department provided logistical support in setting up the checkpoint on the Lechtal Bridge, according to a press release from the traffic police.
This was criticized by the police during inspections
The results show that these checks are still urgently needed, according to the police's conclusion: Of 61 vehicles checked, 35 had to be cited for general traffic violations - "that corresponds to a rate of around 57 percent!"
According to the police, the main complaints were about the lack of load securing, overloading, violations of driving and rest times, as well as violations of dangerous goods regulations.
Four drivers had to be prevented from continuing their journey.
Continued travel could only be permitted after the cargo had been secured and reloaded.
Some drivers ignore the overtaking ban at checkpoints
The Weilheim-Schongau district office had ordered a speed limit with a ban on overtaking in front of the checkpoint in order to protect the police officers from moving traffic when stopping.
Some drivers still ignored the overtaking ban, according to the traffic police report.
