The Fraud Division of the Tel Aviv District Police received a complaint against the suspect for pretending to his partner that he needed donations for himself and the unit in which he serves.
The suspect made false representations and appealed to his partner's parents who mobilized their friends in the United States to donate funds, and forwarded a link to PayPal that he opened in his grandmother's name and spent all the funds received in the link for his personal needs.
The suspect strengthened the false representation and said that the grandmother on whom the link was opened is the grandmother of a soldier from his unit who was killed in the war.
At the end of the investigation, the suspect was placed under house arrest.
