Kirchasch - At the annual general meeting, the Kirchasch fire department drew a positive conclusion: it counted 30 missions and was able to report on active youth.

The Kirchasch fire department received praise and approval from several quarters at its annual general meeting in the Gasthaus Bauer: Not only Commander Josef Vieregg and Mayor Lorenz Angermaier emphasized the high value of these volunteers in their speeches.

Thomas Metz, former district fire chief responsible for the fire department, and the new district fire officer Florian Pleiner also expressed themselves very positively.

“In times in which growing selfishness and increasing dependence in our society increasingly call for help from outside, a social alliance like the fire brigade is becoming increasingly important,” explained Metz.

Bockhorn's mayor agreed with this praise: "You are a good team, both in action and on the social stage, and the entire community would like to thank you for that."

The town hall boss also spoke about the new logistics equipment trolley, which will hopefully be delivered soon and will bring a lot of use.

District fire officer Pleiner alluded to this during his first visit to Kirchasch: “Many people don’t realize how valuable we are to the fire departments thanks to our good equipment.

If we are called in time, we can often prevent greater damage.”

Last year, Kirchasch's fire brigade had to deal with various types of damage during its 30 missions, as Commander Vieregg described.

The fire department has a total of 231 members.

Vieregg also reminded his team of the neutrality requirement and discussed expanding the emergency power supply in the community, as well as installing new sirens - so far there is only one in Kirchasch.

The fire brigade youth were also very active again in 2023, as youth warden Michael Holub reported.

Its seven members, including four women, attended 18 exercises and advertised for more members via social media.

The highlight, however, was the visit with the old Borgward fire engine in Rottach-Egern at the 150th anniversary of the fire department there.

As Hubert Strasser, chairman of the fire brigade association, added, a delegation of active members also stayed there, as did their colleagues in Eitting on their anniversary.

In 2029 the Kirchascher Weir itself will be able to celebrate its 150th anniversary.

This year's program includes the summer festival on July 8th, the anniversary of the Grünbach traditional costume association and a possible sponsorship with the local fire department.

Strasser thanked everyone for their hard work.

In any case, the fire department does not lack financial resources, as treasurer Nikolaus Widl explained.

Accordingly, with expenses of around 16,000 euros and income of around 17,700 euros, there was a pleasing surplus, which in total shows a cash balance of almost 41,000 euros.

Auditor Franz Ascher confirmed clean financial management.

Eventually, firefighters were promoted and honored for loyalty.
