A Buenos Aires police officer shot an 18-year-old man to the chest this Tuesday
after he pointed the firearm at him with which he had already shot himself in the foot and threatened to commit suicide, after a fights with his girlfriend.
The incident occurred on the
Pan-American Highway
, near the
Vicente López district.
It all happened during the early morning, around 2 o'clock, at
the intersection of the highway and Ugarte Street
, in the north of the Buenos Aires suburbs.
The Police were present at the scene after receiving a 911 call alerting about a person who was on foot holding a firearm
with alleged intentions of taking his own life

Police and judicial spokespersons indicated that it was an 18-year-old teenager identified as
Ezequiel Caetano Coronel
, who was crossing the highway from one side to the other threatening to commit suicide with a 38-caliber revolver, after having had an argument with his 17-year-old girlfriend. years, that she wanted to end her relationship with him.
"If you leave me, I'll kill myself
," was one of the phrases that Ezequiel said to his partner during the fight, in which the young man
shot himself in his right foot
.
After that, Coronel began shooting at the cars that were traveling on the highway, although no one was injured.
Sources from the investigation assured that the young man was
accompanied by several relatives
who were trying to convince him to desist from his actions when a cell phone from the Vicente López Departmental Security Police Station (EPDS) showed up at the scene.
According to the police version, the 18-year-old boy - upon noticing the presence of the agents -
pointed his weapon, a chrome-plated but somewhat rusty 38 caliber revolver, at one of the officers

Under these circumstances, the sergeant told him to stop, but
a detonation was heard and the police officer fired his service pistol
at Coronel, who received a bullet in the left side of his chest and fell wounded on the asphalt.

Judicial sources specified that Ezequiel
had no criminal record, lived in José C. Paz and worked in a hamburger restaurant.
"He had an addiction problem. He had a very toxic relationship with his partner.
Everything suggests that he also wanted to kill his girlfriend with the weapon he had with him
," detailed an investigator with access to the file.
Based on what happened and since Buenos Aires police personnel were involved, the National Gendarmerie (GNA) was designated for the corresponding investigations.
The deceased's 38 revolver was seized
, along with four spent shells belonging to that same firearm.
The sergeant's Bersa Thunder 9 mm regulation pistol and the case of the shot he fired against Coronel were also seized.
Police sources confirmed that the young man's autopsy will be performed at the Lomas de Zamora judicial morgue.
Prosecutor Gastón Larramendi, head of the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) of Vicente López Oeste, was present at the scene of the incident and
