Many bat species are among the endangered animals in Germany.

Bats have a dubious reputation - not least because of a notorious superhero.
They are of great importance for the ecosystem.
Göppingen - Some find them scary, others are fascinated by them - either way, bats are certainly one of the most exciting animal species of all.
With built-in echo sounders and as silent hunters, they are out and about at night and grab their prey in flight. They sleep in a vertical, upside down position.
But as invisible as they can seemingly make themselves and as skilled hunters they may be, numerous species of bats are now endangered or even threatened with extinction.
