The federal police are investigating an unknown car driver who dropped off several migrants on the B11 in the Walchensee area on Monday morning.
Since the five people taken into custody were obviously hypothermic, an ambulance was called in as a precaution.
Walchensee (B11) -
Based on a tip from a witness, officers from the Mittenwald border police initially found the group of five at the parking lot of the Herzogstandbahn.
The four men and the woman had previously asked in English that the police be called because they had been dropped off by a smuggler and left to fend for themselves.
The smugglers, who were unfamiliar with the area, were obviously soaked and hypothermic.
Therefore, as a precautionary measure, the help of a medical service was sought.
It turned out that initial care for the frozen people on site was sufficient and further treatment in a hospital was not necessary.
The federal police, who were called in for responsibility, immediately took over the investigation against the driver who is said to have driven the five migrants across the German-Austrian border early in the morning.
The trafficked people explained that they had walked about two kilometers after the driver, who they did not know, asked them to leave the car with a Slovenian license plate.
They didn't have any papers with them.
According to their own information, the five are an 18-year-old Iraqi woman and four Syrians between the ages of 21 and 24.
For the entire smuggling, which would have led in stages via Turkey and Slovenia to Germany, the smuggling organization would have charged several thousand US dollars per person.
The five migrants were taken to the federal police station in Rosenheim.
From there, after the police measures were completed, they were directed to a contact point for refugees.
