In March 2022 it became known that a hospice was to be built on Löblweg in Bad Wiessee.

Since then, the idea has found many supporters.

Now the measure is also visible on site.

Bad Wiessee

– A few days ago, the starting signal was given in a practical sense for the Oberland Hospice project on the property on Wiesseer Löblweg.

The old Josefheim is now being gutted piece by piece and prepared for demolition, as Jasper von Hoerner, chairman of the Marion von Tessin Foundation, reports.

“The start of the work,” he says, “was always planned for February or March.”

The foundation, as the client, is therefore on schedule with the project.

In addition to gutting the former parish hall, some of the trees on the property must first be removed.

Some, says Hoerner, are damaged because of snowfall, others are simply in the way of new construction.

Residents regret the clearing of five old coniferous trees

The fact that clearing was taking place was not lost on a resident.

He complains that, among other things, “five quite large” coniferous trees that are probably over a hundred years old had to go.

These were apparently not considered worth preserving.

Hoerner defends the measure.

The property is not particularly large, you need the space for construction.

The foundation chairman assures us that nature and bird protection has been “payed meticulous attention to”.

The hospice will probably not be completed until 2025

Hoerner cannot currently estimate how long the demolition work will take.

One thing is certain: the foundation wants to begin building the new hospice building as seamlessly as possible after the demolition is complete.

The majority of the construction work should take place over the course of the year, says Hoerner.

However, he doesn't expect it to be completed this year, but rather in 2025 - "we won't be able to do that in six months."

No problems are expected with the approval of the building application

The building application must first be submitted formally.

This will happen shortly, says Hoerner.

No difficulties are expected with the approval.

“We have coordinated everything in detail with the local council.” The application adheres to the provisions of the development plan, which did not raise any objections from those responsible for public affairs in the first round of interpretation.

Hospice is intended to provide space for twelve people in the final phase of their lives

A hospice with twelve places is planned for seriously ill people who are spending the last phase of their lives here.

The plans envisage a building divided into two parts - the western part is single-storey, the eastern part is two-storey.

“The concept is in place,” says Hoerner, who, as a Gmund-based lawyer and chairman of the Marion von Tessin Foundation, holds all the strings for the project.

A support association has been founded specifically for the hospice

Even before the structural planning became concrete, many places had already committed themselves to the future hospice.

In addition to the Ticino Foundation, which is financing the entire new building, the hospice district in the Miesbach district and the specially founded Oberland Hospice support association are also on board.

The three institutions will establish an operating company for the future operation of the facility.

Thanks to the preparatory work, the hospice can open immediately after completion, says Hoerner.

Support association: Chairman “totally satisfied” with willingness to donate

Josef Bogner, chairman of the support association, is also in good spirits that the blessed facility will soon be ready for the people in the Miesbach district.

The active Rottacher has been committed to the project since the beginning and tried to generate supporters for the hospice.

“I’m totally satisfied,” he says of the response.

“People have recognized the importance of this project.” He always finds open ears when he asks for donations.

Donations also came from the “Readers Helping Readers” campaign.

This was also the case with our newspaper's “Readers Helping Readers” campaign, which supported the project with 113,500 euros in the last Christmas fundraising campaign.

The support association has set itself a target of one million euros.

More than 400,000 euros have already been raised, explains Bogner.

“We are on a very good path, the start-up financing has been secured.” Bogner hopes that now that construction work has started, there will be even more people who would like to support this long-awaited facility with a financial donation.
